PAUSE. REFLECT. EXPRESS.

Fermata, or “pause” is a symbol used in music. Wellbeing requires us to regularly pause and look inward as seen in traditional talk therapies. However, very often talking is not enough. True transformation can occur through an experience of catharsis: the process of releasing, and thereby providing relief from, strong or repressed emotions. Psychotherapists trained in modalities such as music therapy can offer this.

Leigh-Ann Burger, our founder, is an accredited psychotherapist and music therapist (MTA) who obtained her master’s degree (cum laude) from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. She also holds the Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) credential from the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). She continuously participates in further education and certifications in attachment, trauma, music therapy and related fields. Her passions lie in trauma, neurology, attachment and mood disorders. She immigrated to Manitoba, Canada with her husband and two children.

Since Fermata Therapy Services is in it’s beginning stages and is striving towards a fully holistic approach, we would like to invite any registered counsellors, speech therapists, occupational therapists, play therapists, or relevant specialties to apply to join our team. If interested, send your resume, cover letter and references to info@fermatatherapy.com.
